Domaine de Baron’arques 2004

The wine has a vivid and brilliant cherry red colour and an ample nose that reveals blackberry and bilberry with a discreet but elegant mineral touch, while delicate vanilla and coffee notes enfold the oak aromas resulting from time spent in wood.

Round and generous in the mouth, it combines an assertive but finely textured tannic structure with very ripe red fruit flavours.

The harmonious finish, full-bodied and dense, displays admirable balance and reveals the potential of a great terroir.

After the untypical conditions of 2003, the usual weather patterns of the Limoux region returned in 2004.

The winter was cold, especially in January and February, and very wet, with heavy rains in January and March. Budbreak took place during the first two weeks of April, in line with the average for the last ten years. Flowering occurred from the 8th to the 18th of June in dry weather.

The summer was much less hot than in 2003. Low but regular rainfall in July and August meant that the vines did not suffer from drought.

Mirroring the vegetation cycle, the crop reached optimum maturity at the usual date.

Picking began with the Merlot on the 4th of October and continued under good conditions, producing a very high quality crop, rich in polyphenols.
