Tasting notes

A resplendent lemon yellow, the wine has an elegant and complex nose on intense apricot and pineapple aromas. With airing, it develops notes of verbena and lime blossom with a mineral, minty touch. From a bright, fresh and harmonious attack, the balanced and expressive mid-palate reveals spicy cardamom flavours with notes of vanilla and toast. Full on the palate, it develops delicate floral and citrus notes, leading into a long, lingering finish which retains an attractive freshness.

2013 began with a wet winter which helped to replenish water reserves in the soil. Budbreak for the Chardonnay started on 26 March, a usual date for the Domaine. Spells of cold and wet weather followed from April on, holding back the vegetation cycle.

Flowering took place from 11 to 20 June, about fifteen days later than in an average year.

Aggregate rainfall of 71 mm and normal high temperatures in July and August ensured good conditions for growth in the vineyard. However, the vegetation cycle still lagged 18 days behind the average at the time of veraison, which lasted from 18 to 30 August.

The weather in September was pleasant, with limited rainfall and mild temperatures. The parcels of Chardonnay were able to reach full maturity in these favourable conditions and a healthy crop was harvested 15 days later than in an average year.
