After a mild and dry winter, bud burst was early. It started on 18 March, a few days ahead of a normal year. Spring was cool and the rains in May (100 mm) reassured us about the water reserves. The morning frost on 6 May affected some of our Chardonnay plots. The head start seen at bud burst was reduced and flowering was spread out from 30 May to 8 June, normal dates for the estate. The summer was hot with regular rainfall, with peaks of 36°C recorded on several occasions in July and August.
Despite these exceptional temperatures, and thanks to the freshness of our terroir, véraison began on 2 August and ended on 18 August in the coolest plots.
The harvest began in the earliest ripening plots on 9 September, typical for the estate, and ended on 20 September. And, for the first time, we harvested 0.26 hectares of Chenin Blanc from a plot adjoining the estate. The very fine weather in autumn allowed us to harvest magnificent grapes with ideal ripeness and in an excellent state of health.
