Tasting notes
The aspect is resplendent and crystal-clear, with gold highlights.
The expressive and elegant nose reveals aromas of vine peach and verbena, with a slightly mineral note.
The attack is powerful and harmonious, sustained by fresh, minty notes.
The nicely balanced mid-palate displays citrus fruit flavours with mineral touches.
The finish is long, lingering and magnificently fresh.
2011 was the hottest year since 2003, with normal rainfall of 594 mm.
A warm and dry spring was followed by cool and damp conditions in early summer, then by hot and dry weather in the later summer months.
Budbreak for the Chardonnay occurred a week earlier than in an average year, from the 22nd to the 25th of March.
As a result of the fine spring weather, flowering took place two weeks earlier than the average, from the 16th to the 22nd of May.
Cool and damp weather in July slowed vegetation growth. Veraison started on the 28th of July and ended on the 4th of August, only five days ahead of the normal time.
August and September were particularly hot, accelerating the ripening process. The Chardonnay parcels were picked in excellent conditions, ten days earlier than in a normal year.
